ABOUT THE

NEW AMERICAN STANDARD BIBLE

The Lockman Foundation is a nonprofit, interdenominational ministry dedicated to the translation, publication, and distribution of the New American Standard Bible, Amplified Bible, La Biblia de las Américas, Nueva Biblia Latinoamericana de Hoy, and other biblical resources.

Since its completion in 1971, the New American Standard Bible has been widely embraced as the gold standard among word-for-word translations. Millions trust the NASB and discover what the original text says, word for word.

In 1995 the NASB was updated, increasing clarity and readability. Vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structure were carefully reviewed for greater understanding and smoother reading.

Over the past several years, the Lockman Foundation has been overseeing a new update to the NASB text, commonly referred to as NASB 2020. To the delight of publishers and loyal NASB readers alike, Lockman will allow the continued publication of the NASB 95 even after NASB 2020 is made available.

ZONDERVAN'S 1995 & 2020 PUBLISHING STRATEGY

Zondervan is honored to continue its long-standing relationship with the Lockman Foundation in publishing the New American Standard Bible. Even while the publishing world eagerly awaits an update to the NASB text, we are delighted to be able to continue to publish new, beautiful Bibles in the NASB 95 text even after the NASB 2020 is in print.

Zondervan has once again partnered with 2K/Denmark to create an exclusive Zondervan Comfort Print typeface-this time for the NASB. Both the new 95 editions as well as the forthcoming 2020 editions will be set in this new typeface. The first wave of new NASB 95 Bibles will appear in February 2020. We must wait for the translation update to be complete, but if all goes according to plan then we anticipate the first wave of Zondervan NASB 2020 editions to appear in spring 2021.
