- Review by Harold
In his book, pastor Hybels shares Scriptural as well as personal insights concerning the matter of hearing and responding appropriately to the "voice" of God. For individuals wanting to be God-followers and wanting to hear his voice, the matter of hearing from God can be a cause of significant concern or frustration. Pastor Hybels attempts to separate fact from fiction in his book so that people who want to follow God and hear his voice can do so without confusion or frustration.
Some of the titles of the chapters in the book include; Chapter 2, "Our Communicating God," Chapter 4, "How To Know When You Are Hearing From God," as well as Chapter 6, "Light For Dark Nights Of The Soul." In these chapters as well as in the others, pastor Hybels provides invaluable insights concerning hearing and responding to the voice of God in our lives. Although what he has written in his book might be considered controversial by some, the book is definitely worth a good read as there IS much to be learned by the reading of it. As a reader of this book, you might not agree with everything Pastor Hybels has written; however, if you sincerely desire to follow God and hear his "voice" you can and will surely learn something of significant value by reading it.
And on a personal note God has used this book in a very powerful way in my life in regards to helping me make a major life changing decision. I found the "filters" that pastor Hybels shares in Chapter 4 of the book, "How to Know When You Are Hearing From God," to be most helpful in enabling me to make a decision that God wanted me to make.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is going through the process of trying to hear the "voice" of God and determine what God's will is for their lives.
