What’s a woman to do if her life is not taking shape the way that she thought that it would? What happens when she looks at herself in the mirror, lingering just a little longer than usual and realizes that she no longer recognizes the person staring back at her? What does she do when she sees that, somehow, her life has drifted away from all her original hopes, dreams, or plans?

Speaker, blogger and writer Chrystal Evans Hurst wrote this book because she was that woman. One day she realized that she had somehow wandered away from the life that she had purposed to live a long time ago.

Chrystal since discovered that this moment of awareness happens to lots of women at different seasons of their lives. Poor decisions, a lack of intentionality or planning, or a long-term denial of deep hopes and dreams can leave a woman, old or young, reeling from the realization that she is lost, disappointed, or simply numb.

And she just needs encouragement.

This woman simply needs someone to hold her hand, to cheer her on, and to believe with her that she is capable of still being the person she intended to be or discovering the girl she never knew was there in the first place.

Chrystal uses her poignant story of an early and unexpected pregnancy, as well as other raw and vulnerable moments in her life, to let readers know she understands what it’s like to try and find your way after some missteps or decisions you didn’t plan on. In She’s Still There Chrystal emphasizes the importance of the personal process and the beauty of that path as it is shared authentically from one girlfriend to another. It’s a book of “me toos”, reminders of the hoped for, and challenges for the path ahead—to find direction, purpose, and true satisfaction.

OMG! There are so many adjectives and verbs I could use to describe Chrystal’s new book. From the Foreword by Priscilla Shirer I was in utter tears. Every chapter I could see an area in my life that connected with Chrystal’s. At every turn of the page I kept thinking, “Chrystal is my SISTER!” This book was (is) so relatable to my life. From Chrystal getting pregnant young, being a single parent, our love for a Hershey bars, to the recent health issues of my husband. What I loved most was not just being able to see areas of my life, but seeing how Chrystal took those hard places and applied Biblical passages that allows me to see God in not just her journey, but my journey. If I didn’t know better, I would think this book was made SOLELY FOR ME! The book is great because it is a combo (to me) of a devotional with real-life tangible application that points you to Jesus. At the end of each chapter there is a “Reflection for the Rescue.” In this section, there are Three R’s: Remember (Like a recap of the chapter), Reflect (questions to reflect on your Rescue Journey), and Response (Being vulnerable, sharing with a trusted friend, identifying the next step of the Rescue). I can’t lie, Reflections for the Rescue caused me to take a long hard and sometimes painful look at the girl I placed on hold; how and what I needed to do to RESCUE her. She’s Still There helps you reconnect, re-identify with the girl in you. But most importantly, it connects you to the girl…the woman you are meant to be in CHRIST. This is a great book and a great read for women of all ages who are looking at their lives and asking God, “Where am I? How did I get her? And how do I find my way back to the person…the girl…the woman You created me to be?” (Posted on 8/10/2017)

This book is phenomenal! It's written in readable chapters so that you can glean information if you even only have 60 seconds to read something. "She's Still There" serves a variety of audiences. If you’re discouraged in your current stage of life, this book provides the encouragement for where you are. If you’re confused about yourself, questioning whether or not you’re worth it, this book provides clarity. However, if you’re ready to take a step forward and do more with your life, this book gives you the necessary guidance. "She's Still There" encourages the reader to start loving herself wherever she is in life while empowering her to move forward.

There are reflection questions at the end of each chapter which help the reader to dig deeper, unearth some things and find healing and restoration for other things as well. There are also scriptural references from the Bible, which provide a well-rounded context to what Chrystal is saying. She weaves story-telling into her encouragement so that the reader has proof that they’re not alone and testimony that these words have helped someone.

She’s Still There is a book worth reading repeatedly. Get a highlighter, get a journal and a comfy pen. Settle in and immerse yourself into the work. Reconnect with that girl deep within. You are worth it!

If this first solo project that Chrystal has produced is this life-changing, I'm eagerly anticipating what her authoring future holds.

As I started reading this book, I laughed, I cried, I sat and stared into the ceiling... I saw myself over and over and over again throughout the pages. When Chrystal says she's talking to you, she's telling the truth. The book speaks to the reality of who I am and as I near the empty nest season of life, I am assured that I can find the girl in me who has been so many things to so many people and rescue her so I don't get lost on my journey back. I've learned to be careful of what I say about myself. Remembering that my "drifts, decisions, and collisions don't define" me and so much more! So if you seem to have lost your way as you wind your way through different seasons of life, grab hold of this book, get ready for the ride of lifetime, and put on your cape to become your own superhero and rescue the girl in you!

On a scale from 1-10, I rate this book as follows:
• Readability - 10
• Challenge - 10
• Encouragement/Inspiration - 10
• Godly Wisdom - 10

I highly recommend this book for any woman looking for encouragement, self evaluation, and self improvement.

There's also a study guide available!!

Happy Reading! Thanks, Chrystal for allowing us a peek into your life for inspiration and encouragement. Thank you for being a model for other women! (Posted on 8/8/2017)

"She's Still There" is about becoming the woman you were meant to be while at the same time accepting the woman you are today. Chrystal uses personal examples from her own life to share how she’s drifted off course, how God has guided her all along, and how He can and will do the same for us.

It’s a thick book but the chapters are very short so you feel really accomplished as you quickly get through each chapter. Also, Chrystal’s style of writing makes you feel like you are sitting on the couch talking with her over a cup of coffee so it’s a relatively easy read.

I think this book is so important for all women as it touches on topics such as emotional wellness, reaching your goals, overcoming heartache, guilt, shame, and overall learning how to appreciate your life right now while you work towards growth.

Chrystal talks about parenting, marriage, being a single mom, and growing into the woman that she is today. No matter where you are in life I truly believe there is something in this book that can help you grow more into the women God made you to be.

If you’ve ever felt lost when it comes to you life’s purpose Chrystal offers an assessment to get you on tract and help you discover what you were made to do.
If you’ve become numb and stopped moving forward in your life Chrystal offers practical steps to let go of your past and move forward.
If you’re downing in the day-to-day monotony of life and have given up on your God-given dreams Chrystal will teach you how to coach yourself out of that dangerous cycle.
This isn’t just some book to get you excited until the book is over. No Chrystal offers practical strategies that you can implement today, that will a have lasing impact on your life.

No matter the mistakes you’ve made, you far you’ve gone, how hurt you may be, through this book Chrystal does an excellent job of reminding readers that the girl you want to be or the girl you didn’t know you could be, well . . . she’s still there. (Posted on 8/7/2017)

Is she still there?
This book has helped me to ask and answer the question. A question I never realized I needed to ask.
I have read many inspirational books. I have read just as many informational books.
Never before have I read a book that merges the two so seemlessly.
This book reads like your friend chatting over coffee giving you inspiration and motivation. Giving you the supportive kick you need to get off your bottom and get to work.
She's still there also offers enlightenment because while some things you may have heard before I have found the fresh perspective that is given mind blowing.

You will not only be encouraged, you will also be equipped with practical tools to tackle the hard yet rewarding work of finding the girl that is still there.

You will laugh.
You will cry.
You will learn.
You will be changed.

Be prepared to laugh, to cry, and to be forever changed! Being a homeschool mom and wife with all of the challenges it brings has often left me wondering "is this all there is?" It's so easy to let yourself get pushed to the wayside as you look after family and friends, but when you do, you miss out on giving the gift of you. You are a gift - and Chrystal reminds you of that quite often in her book. Emotions aren't dictators, circumstances don't define you - you can be all God created you to be with just a little (or in my case, a WHOLE LOT) of discipline. Chrystal has broken all the chapters into bite-sized pieces with reflection questions at the end of each chapter along with a summary sentence and supporting Scripture. This book is written as though you and Chrystal are sitting across the table from one another sharing your life stories. She encourages you and gives you practical steps to move you in the direction you need to go, because that girl inside you - the one who dreams big and has aspirations for her future - she's still there! (As an aside, I recommend lots of tissues) (Posted on 8/7/2017)
