Our Presidents Rock! was written by Juliette Turner. Juliette Turner is a 16 year old who is the National Youth Director for Constituting America (of which her mom, Janine Turner, is founder & co-chair). As the book claims, Our Presidents Rock! was "written for kids by a kid". (Juliette Turner also authored Our Constitution Rocks!)

Our Presidents Rock! covers all presidents (Washington through Obama). The book includes an overview for each president: their life, presidency, accomplishments, and views. There is also information about how each president has impacted our lives today and why we should learn about them. In addition, there are timelines, election results, and some fun facts for each president. I particularly enjoyed the "Presidential Height Chart" at the end of the book.

Our Presidents Rock! is a great book - and would be especially useful for homeschoolers. It is interesting and informative. The layout of the book is eye-catching, but it may lean a bit toward the "busy" side as far as the design is concerned.

In my opinion, Our Presidents Rock! is a step above other presidential history books because it has that element of fun (& relevance) that keeps you wanting to learn. My kids enjoy this book and I look forward to using it in our schooling.

This is such a fun book especially if you love history. There are information on the Presidents in there that you may have never known. For example did you know that John Adams and Thomas Jefferson are the only two Presidents that signed the Declaration of Independence? Or that Calvin Coolidge’s 16 year old son, whom died while President Coolidge served as President, is buried in the South Lawn of the Whitehouse? These facts and more are found inside this book. I love history and to have this book in hand is a plus for me. If you homeschool I think it would be a great addition but even if you don’t if you enjoy history I still recommend this book because its good to know more about the men who have held and currently hold the office of President.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review. (Posted on 11/21/14)

Our Presidents Rock is written in the same style as Our Constitution Rocks. It takes a unique look at each our our US presidents, in order of service, as well as the role of our Executive Branch. It gives details of platform speeches, fun facts about each, as well as important events that took place during their terms. It also looks at their post presidential contributions.

I enjoyed this book and can't wait to use it to teach my kids more about our Presidents.

Wow–another wonderful book to review for you today! I recently received Our Presidents Rock! by Juliette Turner. She is the National Youth Director of Consituting America. Her mother Janine Turner is the Founder and Co-Chair of Constituting America (and an actress).
Our Presidents Rock! is for kids and is all about the U.S. Presidents. It’s a paperback book 316 pages long and jammed packed full of important and fun information about each of our American Presidents.

The book begins with an Introduction page which gives an inspiring explanation of how anyone can become President. Next it explains how to read the book (like I explain below), and a couple of pages explaining the role of President as given by the U.S. Constitution. (They also have a book called Our Constitution Rocks! that I’ll have to check out.)
Each president has several pages devoted to him. You’ll find the same subheadings for each one:
The Bottom Line — a couple of sentences about his presidency
What Were They Thinking? — Some of his views about major issues
Why Should I Care? — Why you should learn about and understand this particular president’s policies
Breakin’ it Down — His life prior to becoming president
Presidency — His most important events and accomplishments
What Has He Done for Me Lately? — What this president did that still affects or influences us today
Presidential Times — Some of the major events in America and the world during his presidency, written like a newspaper with articles
Quick Facts — Several different boxed fun tidbits such as Fast Stats (about the man), Liberty Language (definitions), Election Results!, Fun Facts!, Thoughts on the Constitution (things he said or thought about the Constitution), Congressional Corner (important legislation passed during his time in office), Platform Speech (important lines from speeches he made), and Presidential Personality (how he carried himself as president and in his personal life), a Timeline, and Pictures of the president and his wife.

The book ends with a comparison of Washington’s and Obama’s cabinets and a fun comparison of the Presidents’ heights!

My take:
I feel this in now a valuable resource in our home. I love how it’s easy to read and contains so much information. As we know, all history and political books have a bias, and I’m glad that Our Presidents Rock! leans to the conservative side. Here is a quote from the chapter on Calvin Coolidge “Had any other individual served as president during this time and not allowed the country to ‘run itself’ as Coolidge did, the United States likely would not have reached the level of accomplishment she did during this time.”
I’ll use this great resource book for my elementary through high school students.

My Review:

As a homeschool mom, it is extremely hard to find really good reference books for my children that will give them all the information they need to get their work done each day. This book is n excellent one that states all the facts about each president and then some. Juliette has done an outstanding job on the book! she takes all the boring facts or ones that children would consider boring and rounds it out with some additional fun facts about the president and his family. She begins with George Washington and ends with the current president Barack Obama. She even throws some things in a bout the first ladies as well.

For example, did you know that First Lady Michelle Obama and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt were the tallest First Ladies in U. S. history standing in at 5'11" tall. Or that during Washington's first term, he visited each state because he believed that each state should get to know who was running the government. This book was fun and informative and gives you a brief timeline on each president as well as so much more. My children had lots of fun reading and looking through it to learn more about our government.

If you would like to learn more about this book, you can here.
