Accompanying each story in this unique children’s Bible is a very special and encouraging letter, each tucked away in its own lift-the-flap envelope, just for them. I love celebrating the "fun" of Christmas! After Thanksgiving dinner we put our tree up and then every time my three grandsons are at my house between then and Christmas, they get to open a gift (the gifts are small: matchbox cars, books, candy, ornaments, handmade crocheted hats, etc). I love making gifts, decorating, baking, reading books, watching specials . . . I love celebrating the "fun" of Christmas!

But, as much as I love celebrating the "fun" of Christmas, I especially love celebrating the reason for Christmas! My tree decorations are a crocheted set of Nativity ornaments and my main decorations are Precious Moments Nativity set, wise men and shepherds because while I love to decorate, I want the focus to be on Jesus; it is His birthday after all!

So, when I was sent a lovely book by Glenys Nellist from Zonderkidz entitled, Love Letters from God, I knew I had to save it for my 2014 Christmas Gift Review because Jesus is God's Love Gift to us; a book filled with "love letters" from God seems like a wonderful "fit" for Christmas!

The "lift-the-flap" feature for the "love letters" will delight children

I love the "details" - each "love letter" has a "stamp" which goes with the Bible Adventure - children will have fun "noticing" the details
Each Adventure has "God's Wonderful Words to You" - a focus, or key message from the Adventure which children can remember.
Encourages developing a personal relationship with God!

I love the unique feature of the "love letters" from God to children; it makes this book, "personal". While there is no shortage of Bible storybooks on the market, Love Letters from God is truly unlike any other I've ever reviewed! God's Word is personal; truly God's love letter to us, but this is difficult for a Bible storybook to communicate to children; until Glenys' book! With the short, simple presentation of key Bible Adventures, Love Letters from God not only helps children learn these Bible accounts, but helps them understand how they are far, far more than "stories"; they truly are God's letters filled with love to them from Him! Look at the, "love letter" from the Adventure of the, "Sneaky Snake" . . . "Dear _________ (I LOVE how you can put your grandchildren's names here!!!) Do you ever do things you shouldn't, like Adam and Eve did? It makes me sad when my children' do something wrong. But, I want you to know if you say you're sorry and trust me, the most wonderful thing will happen - I will not remember your sins! I will only remember how much I love you . . . because you are my precious child, and nothing you can do will ever stop me from loving you. With a Heart Full of Love, God" Is this not how you want your grandchildren to view God?!!! I certainly want mine to see God like this! Love Letters from God will absolutely be a book my grandsons and I work through together! I would love to see, "More Love Letters from God" to help children work through God's Word in this personal and unique way! (Posted on 10/10/14)

In a world of so many children’s Bible storybooks, it is hard to choose just the right one for your special child. If you can only buy one, I recommend Love Letters from God by Glenys Nellist and illustrated by Sophie Allsopp. Written for children ages 4-9, this book has it all — beautiful and detailed illustrations, well-written retellings of Bible stories in both prose and verse, a Bible verse to reinforce the story, and best of all, a personalized message showing your child how he or she can be part of God’s story. There are 18 stories, 9 each from the Old and New Testaments, all favorites, but not all always included in Bible storybooks. I especially liked the inclusion of the call to Samuel and the parable of the Lost Sheep. At the end, there is an invitation to join Jesus’ team and a blank card for your child to write their own love letter to God. Love Letters from God is a great way to explain God to your child and lead him to a deeper understanding and relationship with Him. A perfect addition to your family’s library, I highly recommend this book.

Highly Recommended.

Audience: children ages 4-9.

Do y’all remember The Jolly Postman? It goes down as one of the best children’s books ever. I still have my copy (it was the Christmas version). It was full of different kind of letters you can pull out from the pages. Full of colorful characters and postman adventures, this was a hit in all my classes.

After seeing Love Letters from God pop up on my radar, I had to pick it up, only if to fulfill my nostalgic whim. Written by Glenys Nellist and illustrated by Sophie Allsopp, this book is perfect for young readers!

Covering keys stories in the Bible, this colorful and fun read will share stories in a new way for your young ones. From creation, to Adam and Eve, to King David, to the calling of the disciples, to key parables, to stories from Jesus’ time on earth, and of course the Resurrection, I know children will love reading through the stories, learning scripture verses and reading the letters.

Each letter from God takes lessons from the biblical story and what God’s heart is. Like this one from the story of David and Goliath:

I have something very special to tell you: No giant is bigger than me! No giant is stronger than me!

So do not be afraid of giant things in your life that might frighten you. Never forgot I am bigger and stronger than anything you might be scared of. So try to be like David-do not be afraid. Remember, I am always with you.

Your Big Strong Friend,
God

Plus there’s even an invitation and spot for children to write their own letter to God!

I love all of the creative and fun bible stories for young ones these days! How about you? Did you have a favorite story as a child from the bible? Or are there current ones you love sharing with kiddies?

I just love the whole idea behind Love Letters from God Bible Stories! After all, doesn't everyone love getting letters? Getting a letter in the mail is such a rarity I think that kids will grow up missing out on this treasure. Why mail a card or letter when there is email and e-cards? There is just something precious about holding a letter in your hand and I want my kids to know this simple pleasure.

This book of Bible Stories each contains a letter from God. One of my kids favorite Bible stories is David and Goliath. I like that the Bible reference is at the start of each story so you can also look it up with your kids if you want to. Then the story is told. At the end of the story is "Your Love Letter from God."

It looks like a real letter with postage and all and is raised off the page so that you can actually open it.

How adorable is that? I love that it takes the main point from the story, puts it in God's perspective as a man and a father and then tells it to your child. I also love that you can put your child's name on it! I chose not to only because I have two so close in age that I didn't want to pick one! I might just put both their names in but I also want to save it for Jax. You know how it is with three kids; everything needs to be equal and even! Maybe I'll just make it say "Dear Silvestrini's."

I really like that each story is just on one or two pages and the letter and another Bible story are on the second page. It keeps everything concise and to the point which is perfect for my five and six year olds. Honestly, since they know the letter is coming they just can't wait to get to it so they sometimes rush me through the story. I have to remind them to pay attention so that is the only downside. They love the letter so much they almost want to skip the story and get right to it!

The illustrations are very simple and straightforward and I like that because it leaves the focus on the letter where it should be.Love Letters from God is such a beautiful, original way to tell Bible stories. I love that you get it from the Bible, written in words kids understand with a magical, personal letter to tie it all together.

My children and I have read the first two stories and are highly enjoying it. I strongly suggest this book to go along with your devo times with your family. My kids get so excited to lift the letter flap and read what is geared for them. The book is designed for the parent to personalize the letter and write their child/children in the Dear part of the letter. Each letter is so encouraging and helps children identify with a God full of love and adoration for his children. I truly think my children identify better with the story with these little letters because it takes the story and then personalizes it for them. For instance the first story is about Adam and Eve and the snake. We all know the story but in the letter it asks if they have done anything they should not have just like Adam and Eve. We all know kids have done something wrong and most likely even very recent to the day. The letter goes on to remind the children that when they say sorry, God erases the wrong doing and only sees his love for his children. My 7 year old daughter had such a big beautiful (toothless- she lost her two middle teeth) smile because she is understanding GRACE!

This book has been a wonderful addition to our nighttime Bible reading sessions that leave my kids encouraged and feeling loved and adored by their Daddy God in Heaven. As the Christmas season approaches make sure you put this on your child, grandchild, god child, or any other child's Christmas list! I am excited to keep reading each night but I think my 3 and 6 year olds are more excited!

Thanks Zondervan for supplying me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not paid for this review and all opinions are 100% mine.

Love Letters From God is a beautiful book containing three powerful elements with each Bible account - a well-written story that conveys the Bible message clearly to young readers & listeners, a Love Letter reinforcing the idea taught and reminding those little ears that God knows & loves them, a verse that wraps everything up. My children love this book. The illustrations are beautiful. Read my full review at www.oneredeemedmom.com (Posted on 9/20/14)

My Review:

First of all, I love the premise of this book! This book is a collection of 18 Bible stories that illuminate God's word and creates a sensation in young children to know their Father more intimately. Included with each story is a love letter from God written to each child that is reading the book. There is a place in the letter for the parent to fill in the child's name, so the child will feel even more special.

My favorite story in the book was that of Samuel's call. It is the epitome of the verse, "I will send for you by name. You belong to me." Isaiah 43:1. The love letter that accompanies this story is such a sweet reminder to the child that God will call to them one day as well. It's just a sweet sentiment that will bring each child who reads from the book or that is read to that they are truly unique and special in God's eyes and that, that will never change. To top it all off there is an invitation to the child from God in the back of the book and a place for the child to write a love letter to God as well.

The author has written such a sweet book to help any child from the ages of 4-8 very loved! I loved the book and you will too! If you would like to purchase the book you can at this link.

This book arrived today and I could not wait to read it. The very thought of God writing a letter to a child was a concept that I wish I had thought of myself. I enjoyed the Bible stories, some of them more than others, but I loved each and every letter that was attached to the pages. They were insightful and will touch a child's heart at their level. I was also in awe of the invitation in the back and the blank letter for the child to write a letter to God. A wonderful story, the illustrations are great, colorful but not overwhelming the message of the book. 5 stars from this reviewer.

“I had so much fun making the world! But do you know the very best thing I made? It was you!”

Every child loves getting mail, so can you imagine their excitement when they open this book and turn the pages to see actual letters from God written to them? It is a beautifully written and gorgeously illustrated interactive-lift-the-flap envelope-style book. It is written for children ages 4-8. There are a total of 18 Bible Stories with nine from the Old Testament and nine from the New Testament. Each story culminates with a Bible verse and a letter from God. At the end of the book there is a blank space for your child to write their own letter to God.

What a FABULOUS book! I found this to be such a fascinating way to introduce your child to the Bible and listening to how God may speak encouragement and inspiration to your little ones through His word. This book begins by making your child feel so special.

This book would make an excellent gift to a child for birthdays or holidays, but can you imagine the inspiration and encouragement it would give to a child who is ill? This will be a book that will be read over and over again. I would highly recommend this book for any child ages 4-8. I completely adored this book!
