Purpose Driven

In 1980, Rick and Kay Warren began Saddleback Church in their home with one family. Now with 16,000 attendees each weekend in Lake Forest, California and 34 daughter churches, it is one of America’s largest congregations. Rick’s passion for developing healthy, growing churches led to the Purpose Driven Church paradigm based on the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. The five biblical purposes of worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and evangelism undergird Purpose Driven Resources for church leadership, Christian discipleship, small groups, children’s and youth ministry, recovery, and more.

Willow Creek
From its humble beginnings in an Illinois movie theater in 1975, Willow Creek Community Church has sought to turn nonreligious people into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Senior pastor Bill Hybels and his staff focus their ministry on the “Five G’s” of grace, groups, gifts, growth, and giving. The Willow Creek Association was formed in 1992 to equip and encourage Christian leaders around the world. The association’s training events and published resources on leadership, evangelism, spiritual gifts, small groups, drama, contemporary music, financial stewardship, and spiritual transformation help equip thousands of church leaders each year.

Youth Specialties
Identifying a dire need for relevant, fun, truth-telling youth ministry resources, Wayne Rice and the late Mike Yaconelli wrote the first Ideas Library book in the late 1960s. Since then, the publishing partnership between Zondervan and Youth Specialties has produced hundreds of resources to help kids experience the adventure and excitement of faith. Over 100,000 youth ministry professionals and volunteers rely on Youth Specialties for training seminars, conventions, resources, and web-based tools.
