The Christmas Story For Children by Max Lucado, Randy Frazee, and Karen Davis Hill is a beautiful re-telling of the Christmas story. Like all of Lucado’s books, it touches the heart and is based in scripture. Yes, this is just another book, all about how Jesus was born, but what I loved about this book, and what makes or breaks a children’s book, are the illustrations. Fausto Bianchi did a wonderful job of illustrating this book, so much so, that it has the feeling of walking through an art gallery, while being told the Christmas story. For just $6.99 and ages 3-8 {it fits these ages perfectly}, this is one book that is a necessity for your Christmas library.

There is nothing more touching in the entire world, whether it's during the holidays or not as the life of our Saviour. I love reading these type of books whether they are a children's version or not. It is just touching and heart-warming and to be reminded of what Jesus has done for all mankind is an awesome feeling better than anything else we could ever feel.

The various authors that worked on this retelling of the very famous story that resounds so loudly at Christmas time and all days of the year but together the story we all know and love and added a little bit of what they may have thought some of the conversations were like among the different characters. It was a delightful story and I loved reading it to my youngest.

The illustrations by Fausto Bianchi, were so beautiful. They look like paintings and they were so lifelike. This story begins shortly before His birth and goes on to tell about different parts of His ministry. A man sent to save mankind from destruction! He was no ordinary baby!

I love all the illustrations in it, the one I like the best was Joseph and Mary holding Baby Jesus. It tells the story of Jesus from when he was born till he was told to become the Messiah. This would a great book to read to a large group of children during the Christmas season or anytime of the year. The language is very direct and succinct. It's is written in short, direct sentences and I like that! It gets straight to the point without anything extra.

I found this book very interesting, in the fact that it took you from the birth into Jesus' ministry. There was a bit of the story I didn't really grasp, because it was taking some liberty with the story as accounted Biblically. The illustrations are beautiful and a child will enjoy looking at them very much. Overall this book was a nice addition to the holiday reading season, I would just make sure my child knew that it is a fictional depiction of the true story of Christmas. The Christmas Story for Children is a book written by Max Lucado, Randy Frazee, and Karen Davis Hill and illustrated by Fausto Bianchi that is geared toward the 4-8 age range. The cover and the list of authors gave me high hopes for this book, but unfortunately, my expectations weren't fully met.

The illustrations by Fausto Bianchi in The Christmas Story for Children are interesting, but some are odd at times. (For example: the angel named Gabriel very much appears to have the face of a female. My kids pointed this out to me, confused, as I was reading.) Overall, though, the illustrations are well done.

The storyline in The Christmas Story for Children was where I wished for more (or maybe...less?). There was literary liberty taken in the telling of the story, but I wish it had stuck more to the biblical facts. There was a portion of the book, for example, where Joseph and Mary are complaining about going to Bethlehem for the census. I felt that was unnecessary and could taint my kids' views of the God-fearing people that Mary & Joseph were.

I did appreciate that The Christmas Story for Children not only included the birth of Jesus, but also his baptism and the beginning of his ministry.

I think that The Christmas Story for Children is a fine book to read and discuss with your kids, but if you only are able to choose one Christmas story book, I personally wouldn't choose this one.

There are a LOT of children's books that tell the Christmas story so I'm always surprised when someone comes up with something original. The Christmas Story for Children by Max Lucado is really unlike any I've read before.

There are several things that set it apart. First of all; it's not JUST the Christmas story. About half of it tells the story of Jesus's birth and the second half tells his life story grown up, until the spirit of God came floating down like a dove and he said that Jesus was his son. I thought this was an interesting place to end the story but it's because it's where Jesus's ministry really began.

I like that this book doesn't just tell the beginning, which is basically what the Christmas story is. It's a beloved story we all love but it's also important to remember that it isn't where it all ends.

The language is very direct and succinct. It's is written in short, direct sentences and I like that! It gets straight to the point without anything extra.

The illustrations are classically beautiful and very similar to the cover. They have that kind of old world color to them that transports you to another place and time.

This is probably one of the most affordable of the Christmas books I've seen at just $6.99. It'd make a great Christmas gift for the little ones on your list this year! (Posted on 11/26/14)

The angel told Mary she had been chosen to be the mother of a special baby and they were to name him Jesus. She was also told when he was older he would save the world because he was the Son of God.

Max Lucado brings the event of Jesus’ birth to life, using simple language that is easy for younger children to understand. This book goes beyond Jesus’ birth and includes his Baptism by his cousin John the Baptist. It tells how on that day Jesus spectacular life began and He became a prophet, healer, preacher, friend and more importantly the Messiah.

This is a soft shiny cover book that will delight your child. I was very impressed with the story beginning with the Angel’s appearance to Mary and going beyond the babe in the manger.

This is a beautifully written and illustrated Christmas book for children ages 4 – 8
