“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”
In this newest 8x8 softcover title in the Berenstain Bears Living Lights collection, the Bruins join the Bear family for a cookout and bring their cousin Tommy along. It isn’t long before the cubs start up a game of baseball and Sister soon notices that Tommy doesn’t play like the rest of the group. When Sister asks about Tommy, Mama takes the opportunity to talk to Sister about how God makes each of us unique in our own way. And that we all have special gifts and talents to share with the folks around us.
Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents, Stan and Jan, working together to write and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too.

I loved this story! Since I have a nephew who has disabilities this is a great story to share with my kids to help them understand and discuss their cousin better and to show love and patience better. The story is a great start at helping kids understand differences in kids abilities but it really will take parents to take some time to discuss and answer any questions about it as well.
We are huge fans of The Berenstain Bear books and all the many lessons we can learn from the stories. I hope you consider adding this to your library! (Posted on 2/25/15)

Zonderkidz says; "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” Matthew 5:8 In this newest title in the Berenstain Bears Living Lights collection, the Bruins join the Bear family for a cookout and bring their cousin Tommy along. It isn’t long before the cubs start up a game of baseball and Sister soon notices Tommy doesn’t play like the rest of the group. When Sister asks about Tommy, Mama takes the opportunity to talk to Sister about how God makes each of us unique in our own way and we all have special gifts and talents to share with the folks around us.
I have long been a "fan" of the Berenstain Bears, but if I had never been before, I most certainly would be now after reading The Berenstain Bears God Made You Special. This story with the loved Bear family introduces the idea of how God does make each of us unique in our own way and we have have special gifts and talents to share with those around us whether we grow and develop the same or not. This book gives parents, grandparents and teachers the opportunity to have an important conversation with children about loving and accepting all others; extremely well done Berenstain Bears and Zonderkidz! Sometime God brings special people along in our lives to teach us a better way and Tommy showed his friends that day to enjoy life and have fun. We can all learn a little something from Tommy. Our family loves The Berenstain Bears series! I love it because it teaches my children good character traits!
