Think About Mom - None Compare

In the Bible, mothers raised famous kings, prophets and warriors, but we don’t even know their names. Have you ever stopped to think about Abraham’s or Peter’s mom and what characteristics Mom passed on to those men? So much about who we are and how we live comes about because of our moms. This month, choose one of the following activities to help children recognize a mother’s invaluable role:

• After a trip to the zoo or watching a nature program on TV, explore at the library or on the Internet on how different animal moms take care of their young. Make a list of how they compare to human moms. Kids can refer to the differences for ideas to write Mother’s Day cards.

• Ask Grandma to write or record some of her favorite moments as a mother. Share these with your kids so they know more about her.

• Make Mother’s Day cards for single moms of your children’s friends. Help your children think of things they like about their friends’ mothers.

• Read a well-known Bible story with your family then imagine what the mother of the main character might have been like.
