Ready for Graduation?

Many moms are celebrating their special day this month while also busily preparing for graduations. These days, even Sunday schools have graduation ceremonies. Do something special to honor how your kids are growing up and becoming more responsible. Besides granting things such as an allowance, paying for driver’s education or allowing later curfews, here are a few other ideas:

 • Give an elementary-school child his first Bible, telling him how you’ve noticed he’s old enough to start spending time with God on his own.

• Plan a date to a fine restaurant for boys or girls who will soon be in high school. Indicate that the dinner is in honor of them becoming more mature. Use the dinner as an opportunity to talk about how to be a lady or gentleman toward their dinner guests.

• For sophomores or juniors, help them open their first checking account. Plan a budget together  and give them some responsibility for buying clothes, saving for bigger items and giving to charity.
