Read on the go!

The "e" in ebook means "electronic," just like the "e" in email. Like email, the benefit of an electronic book is its portability. Imagine you're sitting in an airport, waiting at the gate because your flight has been delayed. You're getting very bored, so you look for something to read. You didn't have the chance to pack your bags full of bulky hardcover books, so you take out your PDA and open your library of ebooks. You have dozens of ebooks at your fingertips and they're all loaded right onto your PDA, which you probably would have taken on your trip anyway.

To enter the world of ebooks, you need access to the Internet to download the ebooks, ebook reader software, and a device to run the ebook reader software. Let's take a quick look at each of these items:

Where to Find Zondervan Ebooks
Zondervan ebooks are for sale at a variety of online retailers. Here's a list of sites where you can purchase Zondervan ebooks:

Sony Ebook Store
Amazon
eBooks.com
eFollet.com
eReader.com
Fictionwise
Powell's Books
Mobipocket

Please read and understand the instructions for downloading ebooks given at these retailers' websites. If you experience any difficulty downloading an ebook or if your ebook doesn't function properly after you've purchased and downloaded it, please contact the retailer first. The retailer should be able to assist you and ensure that you download and keep a working ebook.

Before you dive in and make a purchase, you should also know that the ebook you will receive from the retailer will be a secured file. Specifically, the file will have some amount of DRM, which stands for digital rights management. This means that you may not be able to copy and paste text from the file, you may not be able to print selections from the file, and your ability to copy the file from device to device will be limited. Please check the retailer's site for more information about the level of security placed on the file.

Ebook Reader Formats
Zondervan offers ebooks in Sony, Kindle, Adobe Reader, Microsoft Reader, Palm Reader, and Mobipocket Reader formats. Some reader programs are available as free downloads. Please see the About Ebook Readers page for more details.

Devices That Can Run Ebook Reader Software
Sony (Reader Digital Book) and Amazon (Kindle) have developed their own portable readers. In addition, most desktop computers, laptop computers, PDAs, and smartphones are suited for running ebook reader software.

Be sure to check the system requirements for the reader program when you download the program. Not all reader programs have the same system requirements, so make sure you choose the proper program, the proper ebook format for the reader you chose, and a device that can run the program you chose. All three must match for the ebook to function properly.

Keep in mind that the different ebook formats are not compatible with each other. This is why it is important that you make sure your ebook format, your reader program, and your device match up.

For more details, see the About Ebook Readers page.
