A new translation (1998), eclectic, based on the most trustworthy manuscripts available. The work of translation was carried out by a team of 20 expert Bible scholars, deans, directors, and professors of the Holy Scriptures in seminaries and Bible colleges in more than a dozen countries of Latin America and the United States.
The majority of these translators are also pastors who have devoted their lives to Christian ministry. All of them are leaders of churches and the people of God, recognized not only for their Bible knowledge but also for their mastery of the Spanish language. Many of them are well-known writers.
Therefore, the language of the Spanish NVI is universal Spanish, enriched and strengthened by the variety of linguistic and cultural contributions of the translators, who represent almost all the countries of the Americas.

El trabajo de traducción se realizó con un equipo de veinte biblistas expertos, decanos, directores, y profesores de las Sagradas Escrituras en seminarios e institutos bíblicos de más de una docena de países de América Latina y de los Estados Unidos.
La mayoría de estos traductores son a la vez pastores que han dedicado su vida al ministerio cristiano. Todo son líderes de iglesias y del pueblo de Dios, reconocidos tanto por su conocimientos bíblicos como por su dominio del idioma español. Muchos de ellos son escritores de renombre.
Por eso, el lenguaje de la NVI es el de un español universal, enriquecido y garantizado por la variedad de aportes linguísticos y culturales de los traductores, que representan a casi todos los países Latino Americano.
