Trade Your Eyes for Ears

Many people would rather listen to books than read them. You're probably one of those people since you're on this webpage. (We're sorry there isn't an audio version of this page. You're stuck reading this in the traditional way.)

In contrast, you should never feel stuck when browsing Zondervan's collection of books. If you feel like downloading a book to your MP3 player or popping in a book on CD while you're driving, there's a good chance we have the book you want in an audio version. Of course, we can't promise you that there's an audio version of every book we publish, but we can assure you that we offer most of Zondervan's popular and bestselling books in audio. You can browse this site to see for yourself.

As you browse, you'll note that our audiobooks are offered in four formats:

Audio CD
Our standard for the past several years is to publish audiobooks on audio CD.

Audio Cassette
Some of our audiobooks on cassette are still available, but we're ceasing to publish new audiobooks on cassette.

MP3 CD
Some of our audio Bibles are offered on MP3 CDs. Think of MP3 CDs as data CDs with MP3 files loaded on them. Some CD players are equipped to play MP3 CDs, but some are not. Most of the people who purchase the Bible on MP3 CDs transfer the MP3s from the CDs to their MP3 player. This saves them the trouble of purchasing the Bible on audio CD and ripping MP3s from the audio CDs.

Audio Download
Many of Zondervan's audiobooks, whether available on cassette, CD, or MP3 CD, are also available as audio downloads. In fact, some of Zondervan's older audiobooks which are no longer available in retail stores, are now available as audio downloads.

All of Zondervan's audio downloads are currently available through Audible.com. At Audible's site, you can purchase and download the audio recording from a variety of Zondervan audiobooks. For more details about how to purchase, download, and listen to Zondervan's audio downloads, go to Audible and browse their site for the Zondervan audiobook of your choice.

Abridged vs. Unabridged
You may also notice that we offer both abridged and unabridged audiobooks. "What's the difference?" you may wonder. Abridged audiobooks are shorter in length because not all of the book's content is included in the recording. Because some listeners prefer a quick listening experience that only includes highlights from the book, we condense a book's content (sometimes by 50% or more) and produce an abridged audio recording of the book.

On the other hand, many listeners prefer listening to the full content of the print book. In these cases, we record the book word for word. This type of recording is called unabridged.

So, it's up to you what kind of listening experience you want. Do you want to hear the entire book or just the main points? Do you want to listen to an audiobook on your CD player or do you want to download an audiobook for your MP3 player? Whatever you choose, you're sure to find something from Zondervan for your listening pleasure.
