Zonderkidz Releases Two Devotionals for Tweens, Younger Readers
Two new books based on the #1 bestselling, recently revised Adventure Bible
GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan, July 7, 2008—Two new year-long Bible devotionals from Zonderkidz™, the children’s division of Zondervan, will hit stores in September 2008. Both offer 365 days of devotions based on the #1 bestselling kids Bible, The Adventure Bible, using Scripture to teach kids about relevant topics affecting their lives.

The NIV Adventure Bible: Book of Devotions-365 Days of Adventure by Robin Schmitt targets readers ages 9 to 12, while The NIrV Adventure Bible: Book of Devotions-365 Days of Adventure by Marnie Wooding is intended for younger readers ages 6 to 9. Both devotionals are geared toward critical ages in faith development. Barna Group research shows that two-thirds of all born-again Christians profess faith before 18, which is one important reason why Zonderkidz is reaching out to the tween and younger demographics.

The NIV Adventure Bible Book of Devotions takes on relevant spiritual topics for kids, including:
Temptation
Witnessing/Evangelism
Serving Others
Identity/Self-Worth
Peer Pressure
Justice
Money
Fear
Worship

Based on the theme of exploration and discovery, The NIV Adventure Bible: Book of Devotions is a one-year odyssey, drawing young minds into the adventure of faith through engaging stories and features. It follows the tone and structure of the recently revised NIV Adventure Bible, the consistent #1 bestselling Bible for kids with more than 5 million copies sold. Weaving fictional tales of adventure in the real world, The NIV Adventure Bible teaches children about faith in God and more about themselves.

The NIrV Adventure Bible: Book of Devotions by Marnie Wooding explores the adventure of being a kid and having a daily relationship with God. Helping readers ages 6 through 9 navigate a one-year journey in a “stuff happens” world, this devotional uses humor, fun, stories and Scripture. Written at a third grade reading level, the New International Reader’s Version (NIrV) is a thorough, scholarly simplification of the NIV developed to enable early readers to read and understand God’s message. Translators, literary experts, and educators worked to ensure both scripture integrity and literary stylistic excellence.

Both Zonderkidz™ devotionals contain many of the Adventure Bible features, including:

Life in Bible Times—providing fascinating glimpses into the ancient world of the Bible.
People in Bible Times—offering interesting insights into characters from the Bible.
Did You Know?—sharing amazing facts from the Bible.
Live It!—suggesting fun ways to apply the truths of the Bible to everyday life.
Words to Treasure—highlighting great Scripture verses to memorize.
