Author Michael Snyder Featured with Unique Promotion at Gospel Music’s Biggest Convention
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., April 18, 2008 – GMA Music Week is going to the dogs. Zondervan held a four-hour street marketing event with Michael Snyder, author of the novel My Name is Russell Fink, at the Nashville Convention Center on April 21 from 8:00 am-noon. Snyder and a team of basset hounds distributed 1,700 free copies of his new book to promote its release. Zondervan also erected a full-size billboard on the side of a building on 5th and Commerce streets in downtown Nashville overlooking two frequented parking lots.
My Name is Russell Fink is a quirky, laugh-out-loud work of fiction about a copier salesman who dreams of being an artist. When Sonny, his allegedly clairvoyant basset hound is found murdered, Fink sets on a mission to revitalize his life—salvage the job he hates, break up with his flaky fiancée, and find Sonny's killer.
"The promotion for the book is a little off center, but we’re matching the tone of this new novel," says Karwyn Bursma, marketing director for fiction and inspiration at Zondervan. "Our goal is to tie the enthusiasm of GMA Music Week with Snyder's connection to his hometown using the strategically placed billboard, an enthusiastic street publicity team, and of course, the HOUNDS!"
Snyder handed out books personally at the Nashville Convention Center main entrance on 6th and Commerce streets. Readers also met Snyder at a book signing at the Cool Springs Borders Store on Saturday, April 19 in Franklin, Tenn.
GMA Music Week, April 19-23, is the annual event of the Gospel Music Association that brings together 3,000 recording artists, producers, authors, and retailers.
