GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., September 10, 2007 — Zondervan, a leader in Christian communications, has appointed Dudley Delffs to the post of vice president and publisher for its trade book group.
Delffs joins Zondervan from Colorado Springs-based WaterBrook Multnomah, a division of Random House, where he served as vice president, editor-in-chief. In this role, he managed more than a dozen editors, played an integral role in acquiring bestselling authors including Amy Grant, Shaunti Feldhahn, Robin Jones Gunn, Liz Curtis Higgs, Vinita Hampton Wright, Steve Arterburn, and Randy Alcorn, and created and implemented strategic publishing programs for two imprints. Prior to his role as editor-in-chief, Delffs served as fiction editor for WaterBrook, working with key authors and editing approximately 20 titles per year, including several best-sellers.
In his new role at Zondervan, Delffs will be responsible for overall management of Zondervan's editorial trade book group which is responsible for the acquisition and development of approximately 100 new titles each year from both established best-selling authors as well as newer, younger authors. Along with colleagues from marketing and sales, he will serve on the Trade Book executive leadership team which is responsible for publishing titles covering a broad array of categories including Christian living, spiritual growth, fiction, inspiration, devotional, biography and memoirs.
"We are extremely blessed to have someone of Dudley’s caliber, experience and passion for Christian publishing join our team," said Scott Bolinder, executive vice president and publisher. "I'm confident Dudley will be a tremendous asset to our trade book group and add significant value as we strive to build on our strong foundation and continue to advance our mission. Dudley will play a critical role in our effort to identify fresh voices and new authors and continue to deliver content that meets the spiritual needs of our consumers."
In addition to his experience inside a publishing house, Delffs is also an accomplished published author in own right, having published seven books over the past 15 years.
Delffs is a native of Tennessee. He holds a B.A. and M.A. in English from the University of Tennessee, an M.A. in Biblical Counseling from Colorado Christian University and Ph.D. in English/Creative Writing/Fiction from the University of Denver.
