Zonderkidz™ to release illustrated Adventure Bible Storybook in February
GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan, December 1, 2008—For many children, great stories are central to learning. In February 2009, Zonderkidz will release the Adventure Bible Storybook, a 288-page volume of beautifully illustrated biblical stories retold in language kids ages 4-7 will understand.
“Excellent narrative is so important in helping children learn and retain stories from the Bible,” says Alicia Mey, Vice President of Marketing for Zonderkidz. “The writing style of the Adventure Bible Storybook helps kids understand the lessons behind the stories, while the illustrations help their imaginations come alive.”
The book is based on the Adventure Bible, the number one selling children’s Bible. Since its debut in 1985, the Adventure Bible has sold more than five million copies. The New International Version (NIV) and The New International Readers Version (NIrV) editions of the Adventure Bible were just revised in October 2008 in celebration of the NIV’s 30th anniversary as the world’s most popular modern English translation of the Bible.
The Adventure Bible Storybook includes major biblical stories, from the island of Malta with Paul to the lions’ den with Daniel. In addition, it covers many of the lesser-known stories, putting kids on a course to be familiar with all of Scripture, both the Old and New Testaments.
The “adventure” of the writing takes young readers inside the action of the story, describing the sights, sounds, smells and atmosphere central to visualizing biblical events. It encourages discovery, imagination and suspense. Readers will find “Adventure Discovery” (historical references) and “Words to Treasure” (biblical references) in a special recap section at the end of every story.
The Adventure Bible Storybook by Catherine DeVries and illustrated by Jim Madsen (ISBN: 978-0-310-71637-2) will be available in hardcover at retailers nationwide for $16.99 in February 2009. For more information about the Adventure Bible, including free resources for educators and children, visit www.AdventureBible.com.
