Zondervan Introduces Ground-Breaking Archaeological Study Bible
Full-Color Bible Features Photographs, Maps and Historical Context

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Feb. 23, 2006 – Biblical history fans, archaeology buffs and Bible readers around the world will soon have a ground-breaking new resource to satiate their curiosity about biblical times, people and places: the Archaeological Study Bible from Zondervan, the world’s leading Bible publisher.

Available in stores March 2006 and copublished with Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, the Archaeological Study Bible was developed to provide readers with the historical, archaeological and cultural contexts of biblical times, while lending further credibility and reliability to the Bible itself.

From Genesis through Revelation, the first-of-its-kind Bible is filled with hundreds of informative articles and four-color photographs, as well as thousands of cultural, historical and archaeological references that reach across centuries and bring the Bible to life.

Loaded with unique features, including a CD-ROM containing the complete searchable NIV (New International Version) text and many of the photographs and maps included in the Bible, the Archaeological Study Bible devotes particular attention to challenges archaeologists and biblical scholars face on the critical issue of the trustworthiness of Scripture.

“This Bible meets a need for readers who want to better understand the circumstances, customs and beliefs during biblical times while they’re reading Scripture,” said Paul Caminiti, vice president and publisher for Bibles. “We have already seen an enthusiastic response to the Archaeological Study Bible from both our retailers and our consumer research, and we are looking forward to its release.”

The Archeological Study Bible has been in development for more than five years and features the trusted New International Version translation, the bestselling modern English translation in the world.

Customers interested in the Archaeological Study Bible will have the opportunity to explore biblical history first-hand in the Holy Land with the Archaeological Study Bible Holy Land Sweepstakes. One grand-prize winner will receive an approximately 12-day tour for two to the Holy Land from GTI Tours, including either Israel and/or Turkey, valued at approximately $6,000. The winner will be chosen in a random drawing on July 30, 2006. A sweepstakes entry form and additional rules, regulations and details can be found online at www.archaeologicalstudybible.com.
