Position:    Managing Editor         Position Range:    POSITION RANGE: $55K-$89K
Bible Group Hiring Range:    HIRING RANGE: $55k - $72k

Responsibilities
Supervise the Editorial Staff
• Assigns copyediting and proofreading and supervises the staff members
• Directs the manuscript and artwork process.
• Oversees editorial production process from manuscript to the final book
• Manages the copy editing, proofreading and production editing functions.
• Consults with the production department on the development of editorial plans and schedules.
Leading the Bibles Digital Initiative in licensing rights
• Proactively selling rights to Zondervan Bible content to software producers and manufacturers, including all current and emerging electronic formats.
• Responsible to sell digital rights both domestically and internationally
• Responsible to manage the rights to all agreements with the internal Zondervan rights and permissions team.
• Requires a strong sales aspect, along with requiring an editorial vision for digital applications and the use of Bible content.
Managing new Zondervan digital Bible projects
• Work with a marketing counterpart to develop strong new Bible products that Zondervan can sell direct to consumer and in bulk to churches and denominations.
• Manage the front list / backlist basis with clear pipelines developed for each fiscal year.
• Work with internal Zondervan staff to push the envelope in digital Bible development to far surpass both our print content and our competitors’ digital content.
• Work with print team to develop innovative offerings for Zondervan’s new front list print products.
Product Development
• Individual will become a “player/coach” to the rest of the Zondervan Bible team, bringing print and digital insight and expertise to all aspects of the new product development process
• Responsible for acquisitions in print and digital, with an integrated launch strategy for all titles
• Responsible to recommend innovative internet marketing processes after new print and electronic products release.

 
Knowledge/Experience
•BA, BS degree in either editorial or computer applications
•Master’s degree in related field
•Knowledge of internet development and applications
a necessity
•Solid knowledge of CBA and ABA dynamics
•Solid Bible content knowledge
•Experience with rights and permissions

 
Skills
•Proficient in editorial development of online projects
•Knowledgeable in application development process and rights management
•Strong Biblical knowledge
•Must be knowledgeable in all forms of online applications, from social networking to blogging to the latest online trends and developments
•Excellent copy editing, grammar, punctuation, spelling, capitalization
•Proper word usage and effective style
•Good interpersonal skills
