Responsibilities
• Oversee acquisition efforts and guarantee quality products for developmental editing
• Ensure editorial excellence in content
• Care and nurture authors and illustrators within the sphere of influence
• Contribute to the overall strategy and portfolio development of the Zonderkidz list
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
• Maintain control of budgeted expenses within the span of control
• Manage products effectively according to deadlines and production schedules
• Manage and control royalty advances and plant costs as specified in the IPA’s
• Present product proposals to associate publisher and category team leadership for approval
• Embrace and reflect Zondervan’s Mission Statement and Shared Values
 
Knowledge/Experience
• BA in English or related field plus 5 years experience
• Understanding and experience in child development
• Ability to discern quality of a strong children’s product both visually and editorially
• Strong passion for the Christian community, consumers and church
• Able to work well collaboratively within a team to lead the develop- ment of excellent resources and products
 
Skills
• Proven editorial skills in shaping excellent written text
• Well organized and able to manage multiple tasks/prioritize
• Proven interpersonal skills enabling ability to work with authors and illustrators
• Competent in editing electronically and working with authors via the computer
• Time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
